Celebrating a wedding anniversary, or simply want to surprise your partner? You are very welcome at Mej. Janssen for a romantic dinner for two, in the little alley behind the Korenmarkt, at a marble table by candlelight.
Our chefs specialise in French cooking and work with fresh, artisanal produce. We have been here since 1976. The building has largely been restored, but the atmosphere of the old days is still very much there.
Our staff are happy to recommend a wine or a beer with your dish, so there is a matching glass on the table with every course.

The bisque is poured over the lobster at your table
The plate arrives with the lobster, the prawns and the herbs already in it. The soup goes over it here, so you see it happen and nothing sits cooling in the kitchen.

What goes well with a romantic dinner?
Start together with oysters or the Plateau Mej. Janssen, a starter to share for two or more. Finish with a dame blanche or a crème brûlée, with a glass of Monbazillac or port.
Do you have a Valentine's menu?
We announce the Valentine's menu in January. If you would like to come on Valentine's Day, book in good time.
When are you open?
Tuesday to Sunday from 5 pm to 10 pm. We are closed on Mondays.
Can I park at the restaurant?
No. We are on the Duizelsteeg in the low-traffic centre, right by the Korenmarkt. You can park in one of the car parks nearby: the Blauwe Golven car park on the Nieuwe Plein, the Arnhem-Centraal car park on the Stationsplein or the Rozet car park on the Langstraat. All three are some 230 to 300 metres away, a few minutes on foot.
